Take on Snow Like a Pro in the 2020 Ford Super Duty

Freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall can make cold weather in New York rough for less capable pickups, but not the Ford F-Series Super Duty. With Ford’s recent introduction of the Snow Plow Prep Package, 2020 Ford Super Duty owners can tackle winter’s worst weather with ease.

The Super Duty’s Snow Plow Prep Package comes with mounting hardware, heady-duty springs, and a high-capacity alternator built to handle a high electrical load. Super Duty owners who opt for this package will enjoy a best-in-class maximum 1,400-pound snow plow rating on gas engines and a 1,290-pound rating on diesel engines.

The Super Duty’s chief engineer, Mike Pruitt, says of the new package, “With our new Snow Plow Prep Package, we’re really delivering for folks who clear the way after a big storm. Being able to safely hook up bigger plows means roads, driveways and parking lots are cleared quickly and drivers can move on to the next job.”

The available Snow Plow Prep isn’t the only feature the Super Duty offers to tackle inclement weather. F-Series trucks equipped with the available 10-speed TorqShift® transmission have the ability to switch to a Deep Snow drive mode for better traction in poor conditions. Cold-weather comfort features for Super Duty owners include heated steering wheels, a de-icing windshield wiper system, and heated leather seats.

Check Out the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor Package

Over the summer, we got our first look at the 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor package, a package designed specifically to make the F-250 and F-350 even more dominant off-road. This package is meant for drivers who often take their massive F-250s and F-350s off-road, perhaps towing a trailer full of ATVs or kayaks in search of adventure.

Ford reported that 70 percent of its customers accessorize their trucks after purchase. To do so, they might spend anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000. Rather than require customers to accessorize for off-road readiness after they buy, Ford wanted to create an option through an available package.

Ford will offer the Tremor package starting at the XLT trim and upwards on 4×4 single-rear-wheel SuperCrew trucks that have a 6.75-foot cargo box. Why? Simply because this model’s design is easiest to take off road.

The Tremor package will include bigger shocks, an upgraded suspension, a locking rear differential with electronic shift-on-the-fly, raised off-road running boards, and skid plates. This package lifts the Super Duty 10.8 inches off the ground.

The 2020 Ford Super Duty models go on sale at dealerships, including Kevin’s Royal Auto in Cooperstown, this fall. Ford has not yet announced pricing for this package, but we expect to get official numbers soon.
