Ford Debuts Prototype for All-Electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Dragster

Ford is no stranger to high-performance vehicles, as evidenced by its legendary Mustang lineup and world-famous racing team. Now, its engineers are at it again, but this time with an EV. Recently revealed, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 is a fully electric dragster that’s guaranteed to impress.

If you’re worried that the lack of an internal combustion engine will hurt the Cobra Jet 1400’s performance specs, guess again. The prototype was built to generate a staggering 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 lb-ft of torque. When all is said and done, it’s expected to cover a quarter of a mile in just eight seconds.

In regards to the project, Dave Pericak, Global Director of Ford Icons, said, “Ford has always used motorsport to demonstrate innovation. Electric powertrains give us a completely new kind of performance and the all-electric Cobra Jet 1400 is one example of pushing new technology to the absolute limit. We’re excited to showcase what’s possible in an exciting year when we also have the all-electric Mustang Mach-E joining the Mustang family.”

Ford Performance will officially launch the all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 at a drag race later this year.

While you won’t be able to tear up the asphalt in the Cobra Jet 1400 for yourself, you can still experience Ford’s electric prowess at Kevin’s Royal Auto when the 2021 Mustang Mach E launches later this year.

Take on Snow Like a Pro in the 2020 Ford Super Duty

Freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall can make cold weather in New York rough for less capable pickups, but not the Ford F-Series Super Duty. With Ford’s recent introduction of the Snow Plow Prep Package, 2020 Ford Super Duty owners can tackle winter’s worst weather with ease.

The Super Duty’s Snow Plow Prep Package comes with mounting hardware, heady-duty springs, and a high-capacity alternator built to handle a high electrical load. Super Duty owners who opt for this package will enjoy a best-in-class maximum 1,400-pound snow plow rating on gas engines and a 1,290-pound rating on diesel engines.

The Super Duty’s chief engineer, Mike Pruitt, says of the new package, “With our new Snow Plow Prep Package, we’re really delivering for folks who clear the way after a big storm. Being able to safely hook up bigger plows means roads, driveways and parking lots are cleared quickly and drivers can move on to the next job.”

The available Snow Plow Prep isn’t the only feature the Super Duty offers to tackle inclement weather. F-Series trucks equipped with the available 10-speed TorqShift® transmission have the ability to switch to a Deep Snow drive mode for better traction in poor conditions. Cold-weather comfort features for Super Duty owners include heated steering wheels, a de-icing windshield wiper system, and heated leather seats.

Ford Introduces the Electrifying Mustang Mach-E

We all love the power and performance that comes with the Ford Mustang. Now, the Mustang lineup is expanding with the innovative, all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV. This SUV promises to deliver exceptional electric performance.

“The Mustang Mach-E wholeheartedly rejects the notion that electric vehicles are only good at reducing gas consumption,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product development and purchasing officer. “People want a car that’s thrilling to drive, that looks gorgeous, and that can easily adapt to their lifestyle — and the Mustang Mach-E delivers all of this in unmatched style.”

The Mustang Mach-E will go on sale in late 2020 and will be available with both standard and extended-range battery options. With the extended-range option, the Mach-E should have an EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles. Its powertrain will have an expected output near 332 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque.

For those looking for even more thrills, there will be two special performance models available, the GT and GT Performance Edition. These models will have an estimated output of 459 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. The GT Performance Edition will have a 0-60 mph time in the mid-3-second range.

You can reserve your Mustang Mach-E right now at Ford’s website, or test-drive it at Kevin’s Royal Auto in Cooperstown later this year.

Ford Named One of the Best Employers for Veterans

Serving in the military is a big sacrifice. However, after leaving the military or coming home from a deployment, it can sometimes be difficult to return to “normal” life. Having a good work environment can help a lot. Recently, Military Times recognized the best businesses and organizations that support and hire veterans. The Ford and Lincoln dealership network was included as one of the best employers for veterans.

“This recognition is a credit to our ongoing efforts with connecting transitioning military and veterans with great job opportunities at Ford and Lincoln dealerships across the country,” said retired U.S. Army Colonel Vanessa Benson, Ford Motor Company Military and Veteran Initiatives. “Our commitment to our veterans is a core part of what makes us Built Ford Proud.”

Ford was one of only two automakers included on the list and ranked 78th overall among for-profit organizations. The dealership network was recognized for its good military spouse policies, which give military spouses flexible hours, the ability to work remotely, and transfer to other locations because of military service.

Ford also earned a four-star rating for its history of veteran on-boarding. This refers to how a company trains and orients a veteran into the workplace.

Here at Kevin’s Royal Auto in Cooperstown, we’re proud to be a part of these efforts by Ford to appreciate and sustain the men and women who have given so much to our country.
