Boasting an impressive combination of powerful capabilities and sophisticated features, the Ram lineup was recently honored as the Best Truck Brand for 2020 by U.S. News and World Report.
Ram trucks lead their segments in a wide range of
categories, including the Cummins Turbo Diesel engine’s unbeatable 1000 lb-ft
of torque, 35,100-pound towing capacity for the Ram 3500, most spacious and
luxurious interior, and best owner loyalty.
In awarding the Ram brand, U.S. News cited its interior
luxury, broad appeal, and leadership in innovation.
U.S. News also praised the exclusive use of the coil-spring
rear suspension in the Ram 1500, which creates a more comfortable ride than
most pickups, as well as its huge touchscreen infotainment system and the
fuel-efficient new EcoDiesel engine option.
The magazine also noted that while Ram trucks start off at a
higher price than competitors due to their abundant luxury features, a
fully-loaded top trim is actually less expensive than the highest trims of
The Ram brand’s dedication to creating the perfect balance of cabin comfort and class-leading performance is why the Ram 1500 is the most awarded light-duty truck in the country. The 2020 Ram 1500 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, and the 2019 Ram 1500 was named the Official Truck of Texas and a Consumer Guide Best Buy.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded the 2020 Ram 1500 Crew Cab and some 2019 Ram 1500 Crew Cab models with the coveted IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation. The Ram 1500 is the first ever full-size pickup truck to be named a Top Safety Pick+.
Top Safety Pick+ is the highest rating on the IIHS scale and
was introduced a few years ago to account for the growing use of driver
assistance technology in the auto industry.
To earn the Top Safety Pick+ rating, a vehicle must achieve top
scores in all six IIHS crash tests, a high rating for its front crash prevention
technology, and a good headlight rating.
Ram attributes the Ram 1500’s impressive crash test
performance partly to its splayed front frame-rails, which are designed to
distribute energy better in some types of collisions to reduce the damage to passengers.
In addition to its perfect crashworthiness ratings, the Ram
1500 also earned a Superior rating on its Automatic Emergency Braking
technology. Using a combination of cameras and radar to detect a potential
collision, the system warns the driver when the Ram 1500 is approaching another
vehicle, then engages the brakes if the driver doesn’t respond in time.

Most people know which car brands are based here in the U.S. and which aren’t. However, just because a manufacturer has its headquarters here, that does not mean all of its vehicles are produced here. If you want your new car to be truly made in America, you should buy the 2019 Jeep® Cherokee. For the second year in a row, the Jeep® Cherokee was named the most American car.
Each year, Cars.com analyzes new vehicles to determine not
only where they are assembled, but how much of their individual parts are made
in America. Cars.com considers five factors for its American-Made Index (AMI):
- Assembly location
- Origin of parts
- Country of origin for its engine(s)
- Country of origin for its transmission(s)
- Number of Americans employed at the factory
The Cherokee is assembled in Belvidere, Illinois and has
engines and transmissions built in the U.S., as well. The Jeep®
Wrangler held the top spot in 2017, giving FCA a three-year streak for
producing the most American-made vehicles.
The Cherokee is available in eight trim levels: Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, Limited, High Altitude, Trailhawk®, Overland, and Trailhawk® Elite. It is also available with three engine options so buyers can choose how much power they really need under the hood.
